Council to engage in National Internship Scheme

Following Questioning by Cllr Neale Richmond, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has announced that it will be participating in the National Internship Scheme

“I have been informed that the County Manager has circulated details to all Heads of Department seeking details of suitable positions for inclusion in the scheme. A number of positions have been identified to date and are in the process of being advertised on the Jobbridge.ie website.

“The Manager is also looking at further internship positions and will be advertised in due course on Jobbridge.ie.

“The National Internship Scheme is a great opportunity for those out of work to get excellent on site experience in a range of careers, participants will be given a €50 allowance on top of any existing social welfare benefits or payments.”

New weekend walking programme in Marlay Park

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership have just launched Marlay Movers, a 6-week social walking group running every Saturday morning from 24th September.

The €10 programme fee covers your participation for all 6 weeks, a step counter, maps and historical background on the grounds, plus a dedicated walking expert who will lead the group each week providing motivation and advice on fitness and health.

Meeting every Saturday morning at 11am at Marlay Park House, the group will walk a different scenic route around the Park and visit some of the historical sites within the grounds. Supported by the Get Ireland Active initiative, the Marlay Movers will help participants looking to improve their health by improving posture, enhanced fitness levels, and fat burning.
