Ballinteer based, Fine Gael Councillor Neale Richmond has welcomed news that Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has appointed a Traffic Consultant to undertake a full route assessment of Ballinteer Road and review all the issues relating to adjoining residential access and egress.
“I have been making representations to the Council’s Traffic section for more than five years asking them to introduce measures to ease the congestion on Ballinteer Road. In turn this congestion has major knock on effects on surrounding areas with rat running in Woodpark, tail backs on Brehon Field Roand and major difficulties from residents of Woodpark, Delbrook Manor/Park, College Park and Clonlea having major difficulties accessing and exiting their estates.
“I am delighted that the Council has appointed a Traffic Consultant to review all these issues. The Consultant will also undertake traffic surveys and prepare design proposals. These design proposals will be presented to the Elected Members and consultation will also take place with the local Resident Associations.
“These proposals will then be developed into full design drawings. Tender documents will also be prepared, with the intention of proceeding to construction / implementation in early 2015,
“It should be noted that all Works will be subject to available funding.”
